- Interested in Volunteering -How to Start | SECO
Interested in Volunteering? Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer at Sato! With over 800 students at our school, there are many ways volunteers — whether parents/guardians, family members, neighbors or community members — can contribute: annual Raccoon Run, assist in the library, teach art literacy, movie nights, school dances, or pop popcorn on Spirit Day. Sharing your time and talents enriches the educational experience for our students, provides additional support to teachers and staff, and promotes positive school-community partnerships as well as providing volunteers with rich, meaningful experiences. Volunteer Application Process To safeguard the safety and well-being of our students and staff, each prospective volunteer must complete an application through our districtwide volunteer management system called Raptor which includes an Oregon criminal records check. You'll receive a confirmation email as soon as the application has been approved. This process can take up to 10 business days to complete (please allow for longer times at the start of the school year); we're unable to accept special requests to expedite the process, regardless of upcoming volunteer opportunities or events. Once approved, you will need to create a user profile in Raptor which will allow you to view and sign up for volunteer opportunities at Sato. You'll also be able to communicate directly with the school and district volunteer coordinators. For the safety of our students, all volunteer applicants are required to review the mandatory volunteer training (here) information before completing the volunteer application. Apply Here If you have any questions on how to get started, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@satocommunity.org .
