FALL RACCOON RUN 2024

THANK YOU SATO COMMUNITY!
Fall Raccoon Run 2024 was a successful event, thanks to all of you who supported by being there, cheering on your students and helping fundraise for our school. A special shout-out to all those who volunteered, without whom this wouldn't have been possible. So far, we have raised a little over $43,000, but we are not done yet!
You still have 10 days to request donations, follow up on any pending checks and submit employer donation match confirmations to qualify towards your student's individual prizes. We will start finalizing our individual prize winners by end of day on October 25th, 2024, so please complete your donations by then. Please also be sure to check the status of donations received by visiting your PledgeStar family page and reach out to us at fundraising@satocommunity.org if there are any questions about your donation totals.
A quick reminder of the Individual Prizes: Earned by how much each student raises in donations by Friday, October 25th (including donation matches)

Halloween is right around the corner and that means so is SECO's Halloween Party! Join us for a fun evening of costumes, dancing, food, and games! Costumes are encourage for this evening event, but please leave any weapons at home.
Due to the popularity of this event, we have extended this event to two evenings. Families can choose between Thursday, October 24th and Friday, October 25th, both from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
Ticket sales are limited, so please purchase your tickets as soon as possible. Once the event is sold out, we will not be able to accommodate any further tickets. Purchase your event tickets here.
We need volunteers to run these events. We cannot run these events if we do not get enough volunteers! Please consider signing up to volunteer here.

VOLUNTEERING AT SATO
Shout-outs to our Popcorn Friday, Walking School bus and other regular classroom volunteers who make all these events possible for our students!
We have a few open volunteering needs, including a coordinator for Lost and Found (to visit every few weeks to assist with organizing the lost & found and once every 2-3 months to move unclaimed stuff to clothes closet for donation) . Please visit our website for detailed task description and email volunteer@satocommunity.org if interested.
All volunteering opportunities are for those who have completed their district background checks and approved on Raptor. If you are not yet an approved volunteer, please apply here.
Also continue to look out for Parentsquare posts from Seco volunteer for current needs, volunteer information and how to sign up to help.

LIBRARY UPDATES
Author visit

Sato is excited to welcome author Chanel Miller!
By purchasing an autographed copy of Magnolia Wu Unfolds It All, you can help bring this fabulous author to Sato! Chanel Miller will visit Sato third, fourth, and fifth grade classes on November 1. Books may be pre-ordered HERE and will be delivered to Sato that same day.
Simply click “calculate shipping cost” in the checkout window and select “Pick up at Sato Elementary.” Be sure to fill in your shipping address even though the books are being hand delivered to your school. This step is necessary for the order to process. All books ordered through this order link will be signed by the author but not personalized. Please write your student’s teacher's name in the comment box so that the books can be distributed easily. The deadline for submitting orders will be Wednesday, October 23.
Your pre-orders make these Author visits happen, and is a great way to promote the love of reading and writing among your students!
OBOB Co-chair and other library volunteer needs
Mrs. Fry is in need of volunteers for OBOB co-chair as well as morning and afternoon library work. You can read more about these opportunities here. If interested, please email Tammy Fry at Tammy_Fry@beaverton.k12.or.us.
Additional OBOB volunteer needs will be released in November.
