August 30th & 31st
The first day of kindergarten can be an emotional and exciting time for parents and children alike. Whether it's your first, last or only baby, sending your child off to a big school can feel scary (and the kids are worried, too!)
Come meet with some parents who have been through it. We can shed some tears and shout some cheers!
Please meet us in the Cafeteria area for coffee and snacks right after drop-off Wednesday and Thursday.

On Friday, March 3rd, we will conclude this fun week of reading with a whole school book parade. We encourage students to dress up as their favorite book character for the parade, but this is optional. The book is the most important part!
Wear your favorite PJ’s and snack on some popcorn for Sato’s Popcorn Friday and Pajama Day!
This event helps raise money for our school while the kids enjoy a day of school work in pajamas!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.

We are kicking off our fundraising this Wednesday, December 8th, at 6:30 pm. We need a Fundraising
Coordinator as well as volunteers to help with fundraising events this year.
The funds we raise are for class parties, Field Day, Art Literacy, Oregon Battle of the Books(OBOB), Field Trips, STEAM Night, Game Night, Staff Appreciation, extra supplies for classrooms(such as incubators for the Kindergarten Classrooms), and Biz Town. We have had over a year with only the Read-a-thon activity for fundraising due to the pandemic, but many of the items such as class parties, classroom supplies, staff appreciation, and OBOB have continued. We need to start fundraising so we can continue to provide these items, and hopefully get back to in-person events as well!
A simple plan for remote fundraising is a “Raccoon Write-Off” which is a donation campaign and can be managed remotely. We can also check to see what in-person events might be available starting January. Our kids missed a lot the last couple of years with the shutdowns, and we want to be ready with funds to continue these things as they start back up.
5th Grade Parents - There are above and beyond event costs for 5th graders, including Biz town and end-of-year celebration.
We can make 5th grade the second agenda item after planning general fundraising for the school,
just show up and we will do it at the end of the call.
Many hands make light work, and if we have enough volunteers it should not be a burden on any of
us and the kids will get their events back! Please plan to attend, we need help planning now or we
will start seeing cancellations of events and activities this year that we have typically been able to do.
Thank you so much,

Hello Sato Families! We have started our fund drive for the Oregon food bank. Sato has a history of being great supporters of the food bank during this annual drive. The Student Council has set a goal of $3,000 to start earning some fun prizes at school! Please see the attached art work from Student Council Member Chloe Yoo, be on the look out for more artwork from our students campaigning for this important cause! Click on the link below to donate.
