Get Involved | From Home

Volunteering from home is one of the many ways that people can get involved with helping the students, teachers, and staff at Sato elementary.
If you are great at emailing and getting things organized, there are a lot of committee lead volunteer opportunities,
but there are also sometime opportunities to work on paperwork or stuff packets. Check back often for more opportunities!

From Home Volunteering

We know what it's like to still have a little one at home, or having a job that doesn't allow you to get to school very often, but that you can still help at Sato!  There are plenty of organizing and behind-the-scenes tasks that can be done from the quiet of your home.  Room parents can organize communications and party planning anytime, anywhere.  Event planning, fundraising, communications, and volunteer database management for SECO can all be done from home.  Just being on a committee to offer fresh ideas and perspectives is a valuable contribution.  If you have time to volunteer from home, please take a look at the volunteer sign up page and see what activities are available. You can also email the volunteer coordinator at volunteercoordinator@satocommunity.org. Check out the great opportunities below as well!

Fundraising Committee

We need a dynamic group to help our fundraising coordinator raise all the funds needed for our programs, events, and teacher support throughout the year. If you have experience fundraising, collecting donations, or are interested in joining the team and sharing ideas, please email fundraising@satocommunity.org.

Scrip (Gift Card Program)

As part of our fundraising, we would love to have a person (or small group of people) help organize the Scrip program for our school. Scrip is a program where parents can purchase gift cards at full value through order forms and a percentage of their purchase is donated back to SECO. It’s a super easy way to fundraise without buying anything extra! Shop at QFC or Amazon? Do you eat at Chipotle or Starbucks? Buy your gift cards through us and we’ll get a percentage back to use in our school!

Box Tops

An easy way to raise money for the school is to collect Box Tops on items you already buy! Twice a year, we like to make a competition to see which classroom can bring in the most! If you have a competitive spirit and want to put that to good use, we’ve got a job for you! We need a volunteer coordinator as well as a team to help (a great way to volunteer from home!). Please email fundraising@satocommunity.org.

Welcome Committee

With so many new students and families, we hope to get our Welcome Committee up and running this year! We need someone who can join our school counselor, Laurie White, to help plan information to be distributed to new families and also serve as a liaison to the SECO Board. Love meeting new people? This one is for you!

Yearbook/Directory

We need a few good people to take charge of a school directory and look into planning a yearbook for our school. If you have experience, some contacts, or can take the lead on these, please email seco@satocommunity.org. This is a great work from home volunteer opportunity!

Clothes Closet Coordinator

Looking for a volunteer opportunity that you can do in your spare time? We need someone to regularly clear out or Lost & Found, wash them, and donate them to the Beaverton Clothes Closet, as well as recruiting volunteers for our day to staff the Clothes Closet.

Green Team

Are you ready to save the world one school at a time?  There’s a group in Beaverton who helps schools get programs in place to make a positive impact on our environment, but we need a leader and committee to launch these initiatives for Sato.  If that sounds like you, please email seco@satocommunity.org, subject: Green Team.
